The Difference Between the Application of Emamectin Benzoate and Abamectin

Difference 1: the difference between structural molecules

Natural abamectin contains 8 components, mainly 4 kinds, namely A1a, A2a, B1a and B2a, with a total content of ≥80%. The corresponding four smaller proportions of homologues are A1b, A2b, B1b and B2b, with a total content of ≤ 20%.

Emamectin benzoate is a new high-efficiency semi-synthetic antibiotic insecticide synthesized from the fermentation product abamectin B1. It has two components.

Structurally, adding two groups, one being methylamino and the other being benzoic acid, to the avermectin b1 parent structure becomes emamectin benzoate.

For emamectin benzoate, structural changes bring changes in the spectrum of prevention. 

 

Difference 2: the difference in insecticidal activity

Compared with abamectin, the insecticidal activity of emamectin benzoate was increased by 3 orders of magnitude, and its insecticidal activity of lepidopteran pests’ larvae and many other pests was extremely high, both gastric and venomous. With very low doses (0.084~2g/ha), it has good effect, and it does not harm beneficial insects in the process of controlling pests, which is beneficial to the comprehensive prevention and control of pests. In addition, it expands the insecticidal spectrum and reduces the toxicity to humans and animals.

 

The third difference: both insecticidal activities go up with increasing temperature, but the increases is different

1, in the range of 16 degrees Celsius to 22 degrees Celsius.

At 16 degrees Celsius, the same amount of emamectin benzoate is 2 to 3 times more active than abamectin; when the temperature is raised from 16 degrees Celsius to 22 degrees Celsius, the virulence of abamectin will increase 6 times higher. The virulence of the emamectin benzoate is only 2-3 times higher. Thus the same amount of abamectin and the emamectin benzoate have almost the same insecticidal effect at 16 degrees Celsius to 22 degrees Celsius. It can be stated that in this temperature range, the effect of applying abamectin is better than that of the emamectin benzoate.

2. The temperature is above 25 degrees Celsius.

When the temperature is raised above 25 degrees Celsius, the virulence of the emamectin benzoate will be greatly improved, and even up to 1000 times, but the virulence of abamectin is only increased by several times to ten. Several times, at this time, the insecticidal effect of the emamectin benzoate is better than the abamectin.

Therefore, when we choose abamectin or choose emamectin benzoate, we must pay attention to the reasonable selection according to the temperature inside the greenhouse.

 

The forth difference: the high activity of emamectin benzoate is more resistant than Abamectin.

The fifty difference: abamectin can not kill eggs, and emamectin benzoate can kill eggs.
