How to Use Forchlorfenuron(CPPU)

- Oct 10, 2017 -

CPPU was registered for use on table grapes in South Africa, Chile, and Mexico in the mid-1990s, and in 1998 Abbott Laboratories, predecessor of Valent Biosciences, bought the marketing and distribution rights for the product in California. Valent received the EUP for it early this year.

CCPU is also known as KT-30, the original name given by the Japanese researchers who synthesized it.

Product Description

Forchlorfenuron is a cytokinin. A plant growth regulator used in agriculture and horticulture to increase fruit size of fruits, e.g. kiwi fruit and table grapes to promote cell division, to improve the quality of fruits and to increase yields. Forchlorfenuron is a cytokinin, which improves fruit size, fruit set, cluster weight and cold storage in grapes and kiwifruits. Forchlorfenuron acts synergistically with natural auxins to promote plant cell division and lateral growth. This plant growth regulator causes an increase in berry or fruit size, including varieties not tolerant to gibberellic acid (certain grape varieties and kiwifruits) Application rates are extremely low. For grapes, lower use rates minimize harvest delay, while the higher use rates of 8 to 10 grams active ingredient (a.i.) per acre (A) maximizes berry size and harvest delay. For kiwi fruit, application rate ranges from 2 to 8 grams a.i./A.

Forchlorfenuron is disolved with an organic solvent such as alcohol. Click to enlarge pictures for ppm strength tables.

Product Introduction

Forchlorfenuron (CPPU) is a kind of plant growth regulator with cytokine activity, which posseses 10-100 times of bioavailbility than 6-BA. It is widely used in agriculture, horticulture and fruits. It can promote cell division and expansion, enlarge fruits, increase crop yield, etc.

Toxicity Data

Forchlorfenuron (CPPU) is low toxic plant growth regulator, the acute oral toxicity to adult rats LD50 is 4918 mg/kg; the acute skin toxicity to adult rats LD50 is 20000 mg/kg; it has a mild stimulation to rabbits’eyes and  skin.
