Avermectin is a natural fermentation product of Streptomyces avermitilis. The ivermectin are semi-synthetic macrolides modified by structure. The main difference between the two components is at C22 and C23, avermectin is a double bond, and ivermectin is a dihydrogen single bond.

[Properties] Properties This product is white or light yellow powder, odorless. This product is easily soluble in ethyl acetate, acetone, chloroform; slightly soluble in methanol, ethanol, slightly soluble in n-hexane, petroleum ether; almost insoluble in water.

[Pharmacology] Avermectin has the same insect repellent mechanism, insect repellent spectrum and pharmacokinetics as ivermectin. Its insect repellent activity is similar to ivermectin, but its properties are relatively unstable, especially it is very sensitive to light. Improper storage is easy to inactivate and reduce efficiency.

[Use] Avermectin is similar to ivermectin in insect repellency spectrum of animals.

[Note] Avermectin is slightly more toxic than ivermectin. Its nature is not stable, especially sensitive to light, rapid oxidation inactivation, therefore, various formulations of avermectin should pay more attention to storage conditions.
