Application of Plant Growth Regulator in Vegetable Production

1. Break dormancy and promote germination

The vegetables were soaked in the solution of naphthyl acetic acid naafor about 6 hours before sowing, which could promote germination. Some vegetables, like living in a cold and cool environment, such as celery and lettuce etc., is difficult to germinate in the summer and autumn. But If the seeds were soaked for 3 minutes at a concentration of 1000 mg/l 6-BA and put them in 30℃ room , the seeds could be germinated after 10 hours. If the seeds were soaked the ga3 solution for 2-4 hours, the germination rate could be increased to 70%.

2. Promote growth and increase production.

If spraying the leaf surface 2 times with 20 to 100ppm of gibberellin solution in the two weeks before celery harvest, and strengthen the management of fertilizer water, the yield can be increased by about 30%. In the 10 to 14 days before the Chinese chives harvest, spray the leaf surface 2 to 3 times with 10 to 30ppm of gibberellin solution, the yield can be increased by more than 20%. Spray the cucumber and eggplant stem 1 times every 10 to 15 days with naphthalene acetic acid solution (per gram is mixed 50kg water), and spray 3 to 4 times in total, which can result in early results and increase production.

3. Prevent falling off due to turning and protect the fruit

In low temperature season, tomato pollination was poor and the fruit rate was low. At the beginning of flowering, the concentration of 10 to 30 mg/l 2, 4-d solution was applied to tomato pedicel, or when half of the flowers in each panicle are open, the concentration of 20 to 30 mg/liter of PCPA solution can be used to increase the fruit rate. On other vegetables, the dosage is slightly different. For example, the flower of eggplant can be dipped in the 15 to 30 mg/l 2, 4-d solution. The pepper can be sprayed with 5 mg/l of naphthalene acetic acid solution.

4. Stimulate root and increase the survival rate of cuttings.

The axillary buds of kale and cabbages were soaked with a concentration of 2, 000 mg/l of naphthalene acetic acid solution, then put them in the environment with a temperature of 20-25 degrees Celsius and relative humidity of 85% to 95%, and the survival rate was 90%.

5. Inhibit the growth and cultivate the sound seedling

In the growing period of turnips, 50g of 15% paclobutrazol were mixed 50kg water per mu to equably spray on the leaf surface , which could control the growth of the part of the radish and promote the growth of tuber.

6. Inhibition of germination, prolonged dormancy

When the leaves begin to wither before the onion and garlic harvest, spray 2500 mg/l maleic hydrazide, then you can harvest. After drying, storage can be prolonged to 6 months. In the 20 days before the potato harvest, spray 2500 mg/l of maleic hydrazide solution; or in the 7 days before harvest, spray 100 mg/l 2, 4 - D solution, the both of action have the function of extending  storage, and inhibiting germination.
