Application of Plant Growth Regulator in Cucumber 2

In recent years, the application scope of plant growth regulators on vegetables has been continuously expanding, breaking seed dormancy, promoting seed germination, accelerating plant growth, regulating flower bud differentiation, changing the proportion of males and females, preventing falling fruits and falling fruits, enhancing crop resistance, and improving vegetables. Quality and preservation have played an important role. Therefore, the correct use of plant growth regulators can enhance the stress resistance of vegetables and increase the yield and quality of vegetables. The following describes the application and precautions of different plant growth regulators on cucumbers.

一. CPPU (Forchl Orfenuron, KT-30)

Also known as pyrimidine, PU, dosage form is a soluble solution of 0.1% CPPU. The main role is to promote cucumber enlargement.

On the day of cucumber flowering, pure CPPU is used at 10-20 μg/g, that is, 0.1% CPPU 10 mg and 0.5-1 kg water to dip or coat the whole melon fetus in flowering, and CPPU has the effect of promoting cucumber enlargement and increase. Sugar content, reduce the number of seeds, with flowers and other functions.

Note: Since CPPU does not have internal absorption conductivity, the site treated with CPPU is the entire small melon, not flowers and the stem, otherwise it is prone to malformed fruit; when the temperature is high, the use concentration may be lower and the temperature may be lower. Concentration can be higher, the concentration can not be arbitrarily increased, otherwise it is prone to bitter, hollow, malformed fruit and other phenomena; liquid medicine should be used with the use of 6h after application if the rain should be supplemented; use time for the evening or morning , can not be repeated application. 


The dosage form is 40% ethephon. The application on cucumber is mainly to promote female flower differentiation.

2.1 Summer cucumbers or vigorously growing cucumbers

Ethephon can be sprayed once at the time of 1 leaf 1 heart and 2 leaf 1 heart. The concentration of pure ethephon is 200-250 mg/kg, and the suitable concentration of 40% ethephon is 2 000-2 500 times.

2.2 Autumn cucumber

Can spray pure ethephon 200 mg/kg in 3 leaves and 1 heart.

2.3 Cucumbers growing more vigorously in the pod stage

Can spray pure ethephon 100 mg/kg or so. The application of ethephon on cucumbers is mainly to promote the differentiation of female flowers, shorten the internodes, and increase the rate of cucumber passage.


It is required to spray after 16:00pm on sunny days and spray the liquid evenly on the leaves and growing points of the whole plant. The concentration should be appropriate, the concentration is low, and the effect of increasing yield is not significant. When the concentration is high, the growth of seedlings will be inhibited and the dwarfing tendency will occur. If the concentration is too high or the number of uses is too high, the formation of empty nodes will be caused and the female flower rate will be reduced. After the application of ethephon, it is necessary to increase the supply of water and fertilizer to ensure the vegetative growth and reproductive growth of nutrients and prevent the aging of plants.


The dosage forms are mainly 6% gibberellin, 4% gibberellin and 99% gibberellin.

3.1 Prevention and control of "flower topping"

When cucumbers in greenhouses appear to be "flower topping" due to low temperature, declining growth, or too much squash, they are sprayed with a solution of pure gibberellin (20-25 mg/kg).

3.2 Prevent low temperature melon

Winter cucumbers sprayed with pure gibberellin (100 mg/kg) solution can promote the growth of melons and prevent them from becoming cold.

3.3 Induced male flowers

When cucumbers are used for seed production, when spraying 2 to 6 true leaves of seedlings with 50-100 mg/kg of gibberellic acid, female flowers can be reduced, and male flowers can be increased, so that female plants can become male and female plants and the yield of seed production can be improved.

3.4 Increase production

When the melon strip grows to 10 cm, spraying melon or melon with gibberellin 25-30 mg/kg can promote melon strip growth and increase yield.

3.5 Keep fresh

Before harvesting, spraying melon with gibberellin 25-35 mg/kg once can prolong the storage period and prevent the formation of Pot-bellied melon.


It can not be mixed with alkaline substances, mixed with urea production effect is better; water solution is easy to decompose, should not be put for a long time, it is appropriate to use with the present; after the use of gibberellin to increase water and fertilizer supply, in order to increase production; to grasp the appropriate use Concentration and use period, the concentration is too high will appear long, or even deformed, the effect is too low concentration is not obvious.
